The Anime Story: I first discovered anime a few years ago. Caroline was always mentioning her favorite (at that time) anime series Sailor Moon on our IRC channel (#alt-mmpr). When the Cartoon Network started showing it on Toonami I was home sick one day and decided to see what it was like. At first I thought it was the dumbest thing I had ever seen. Serena (Usagi) was such a ditz and never stopped eating. I watched it a few more times and became rather intrigued. Instead of dumb it was just mediocre. I kept watching to see what was going to happen next and slowly fell in love. Caroline made me some copies of her subtitled Sailor Moon tapes and to my astonishment I realized I had been watching an inferior product. Then, the Cartoon Network started showing Dragonball Z which I liked (although not as much as Sailor Moon). I decided to rent some anime tapes from Blockbuster and went to a few meetings of the local anime club and I liked almost everything I saw. Thus I started down the path of the Otaku. . .
Other Hobbies: Reading, writing fanfic, designing wepages, & hanging out on IRC

Family: I have two parents who, contrary to current divorce trends, are still married. I have one married older brother and married older sister who had a son at the end of April. And my nephew is an absolute cutie (no bias at all there -- none at all)

The Anime Story: How did I get into anime? Well, it actually began with the Power Rangers. Yes, I said Power Rangers, that campy martial arts children's show that debuted in the early '90s. I adored it. Then a friend of mine introduced me to the wonderful world of fanficiton. Over the next several months I slowly worked my way through all the fanfic archives I could find. I was almost permanently attached to my computer. Then one day I came across a fic one of my online buds in the IRC channel #alt-mmpr (yes, a Power Rangers chat room) had written. It was a Power Ranger fic that had been crossed over with something called Sailor Moon. It was very well written, but since I didn't know what Sailor Moon was, I had trouble following parts of it. So I decided to find out. I found Sailor Moon on TV and decided to give it a shot. My first impression: ick. It was way too wierd for me and the heroine was a complete and total ditz. But for some strange reason I kept watching. Gradually I fell in love. From the internet I learned there had been more seasons that weren't available in the US so I ordered fansubbed copies and devoured those. THEN I decided to try some other titles from Blockbuster and it was all downhill from there. My life (and my checkbook) would never be the same...

The Anime Story: I first discovered anime a few years ago. Caroline kept mentioning this hilarious show on television, Sailor Moon. We caught it on one day at her apartment and laughed our rears off! Such melodrama, what bad voice acting. The next time we had to watch it again for kicks...suddenly we were sucked in. Thankfully we soon discovered subbed anime to be forever turned from the evil forces of the dubbed world. She quickly bought all the fansubbed copies of Sailormoon, which I made tapes from and started my own fansub trading page. Now I have over 400 tapes and not enough time to keep up with all the series I like. It has spawned an addiction for raw manga that I have to feed as well.
Other Hobbies: Reading, designing wepages, working on my masters (sometimes it *feels* like a hobby,) and occassionally chatting with friends online. I am an elementary school librarian.

Favorite Anime Female: Kiryuu Nanami of Shoujo Kakumei Utena! I like Ryuuzaki Umi from MKR too.
Favorite Anime Series: Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Shoujo Kakumei Utena and Weiss Kreuz...love CLAMP's X too, but that's manga (lol the movie's too short to count)
