Oh, for the DVD fans out there. . . . if you're looking to buy DVD's I suggest www.dvdexpress.com. I've never used them but know several people who have and they have the best DVD prices in general that I've seen.

* DrMM makes a mental note to not ask Caroline for a copy of the Sailor Moon and the 7 Balls tape

It sounds to scary for words. And Diana, the fifth volume of KKJ is the best yet in my opinion, so hurry up and order it :)

Ladies, I have seen animated Sailor Moon/DBZ/Eva/CCS/Ranma/too-many-others-to-name hentai. It wasn't pretty. Although I did find Mamoru's Austin Powers impression quite humorous.

So I watched the fifth volume of Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne yesterday. I must say, KKJ keeps getting better and better. I'm going to become addicted if this keeps up. And Chiaki was so sweet in that last episode when Maron cracks (um, I should probably avoid spoilers). I wasn't that impressed with Chiaki when we first met him (although he was a yummy bishounen) but he's growing on me now that he's stopped being such a hentai-head. Of course, I still love Hayama and Omi better =)

Well, I just finished watching Mononoke Hime again -- the subtitled version this time. I loved it just as much . . . And after seeing it I have to say, the U.S. dub is fairly good. Now, I totally think that a few of the voices were miscast. Billy Bob Thorton just doesn't give Jiko the gruffness that the character needs, Minnie Driver's british accent drives me insane and what was with using Gillian Anderson as Moro, the wolf god when the Japanese version has a masculine voice? But still, it was well done. The translation managed to be fairly accurate (from what I saw) and the changes that were obvious (to me) seem to have been done to make it more understandable to a U.S. audience. And I completely approve of Billy Cradup as Ashitaka. He manages to make Ashitaka soft-spoken, not quite as much as the Japanese VA but much more so than I can imagine most U.S. actors doing. So overall, I'm impressed.

Uggggh I cannot stand Batman Beyond. *chuckles* Well I'm not actually criticizing the actual show, but the idea behind it just makes me ill. I mean what are we trying to teach our kids? That everything should be out with the old and in with the new? (lol I think Caroline's heard me rant about this before). I mean Batman is a classic, I think this whole 'let's get some new blood in' thing is just horrible. I loved the batman cartoons! I still love to watch them. It feels like blasphemy to have it revamped like that.

Hmmm what american animations do I like? Well obviously, I like Batman the animated series, and I love the old Scooby Doo cartoons. LOL I used to love the Ghost busters cartoons too..... ohhhh and the Xmen that was on Fox a while back. I liked Daria before MTV screwed her up and set up a love triangle in between Jane, Daria and Tom (What is WRONG with them? I'm pissed as f**k about that....), and I loooove the Simpsons. But I have to say my favorite is the cartoon network animated talkshow space ghost coast to ghost. It's bloody hilarious (go view the real player clip when Kevin Smith was on in '98 to see what I mean. I love it. ^^). I haven't seen it in a while since I'm not sure what channel CN is at school, but it's awesome. ^^

Sorry for not posting for a while guys!

Yes, from what I've seen, Batman Beyond is pretty good. But you know the American cartoon I really love? The PowerPuff Girls. Seriously, it's one of the most hystarical shows I've ever seen. I know of at least two anime kudos they've had in the show. There was one episode where the Professor built them a Giant Robot that they destroyed the town with, while saving it. And in another episode Bubbles was reading a manga about some fluffy bunny character. And they're apparently fairly popular in Japan. How can it be better? :)

I'll get to it soon Michelle, I promise. Now, most of you know of my loathing for American cartoons. But every once in a while, I come across one I like. Yesterday I watch "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker", the Batman Beyond movie. I'd just like to say that for an American cartoon, Batman Beyond kicks a lot of ass. Not only does it have pretty decent animation, the voice actors don't sound so wooden and out of place... and the lips match the words for once. ^_^ "Return of the Joker" was really good, and if you like Batman or Batman Beyond, you should give it a shot.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Otaku Blog. Thank you for your time and attention.

Congrats Kristen! And Merry Christmas to everyone. Oh, and Caroline. . . . you simply must watch your Mononoke Hime DVD soon and state your opinion. Of course, it doesn't contain yaoi themes so I don't think you'll like it as much as I did. ;P I bought that and the second Utena DVD on Saturday but haven't had a chance to watch it yet since I'm at my parents. I seriously think I'm going to go insane before tommorow. . . It's so boring here.

Caroline 2:02 PM

The wedding was a lot of fun Kris. Russ kept me entertained since you were busy getting married and all. ^_^ And I thought I was going to die laughing when I saw your car. *snicker*

And of course I'm still crazy about WK. Only I lent my tapes out to a friend back in September and haven't gotten them back yet. *sigh* And I have an urge to watch them again too. Pooh. Oh well. ^_^

Hope you girls had a great Christmas!!

chibikris . 1:13 AM

Merry Christmas guys! Caro are you still crazy about WK or have you moved on?

chibikris . 1:12 AM

Well the wedding was alot of fun. We kept it small (around 85) people which is
quite a good number to be the Saturday before Christmas! Everything went
smoothly. My husbands best friend married us along with my minister (it was
the best friend's first wedding!) The church was lovely (all those
poinsettias!) The reception was fun altough it seemed short. Boy did his
friends get our car. The ENTIRE back seat was filled with styrofoam peanuts (9
garbage bags) and the front was filled with confetti (or as one of the
groomsman said "Gore votes.") They even FILLED the trunk...underneath is all
of our Christmas presents we need to wrap for this evening. We didn't get the
inside clean until this morning and you should have seen the humourous looks we
received from people everywhere we went! We left little styrofoam peanuts all
over town after opening and closing car doors. When we got back to the house,
Ricks best friend/minister left an entire bale of hay in our bathtub with the
strings cut! Boy that was a mess! He said he was going for a manger
scene...One note...we decided to get our table cameras developed with one hour
photo last night. Out of 9 cameras...one was actually decent. Nothing like
spending $50 on crap pictures! ;) But atleast everyone had fun with them.
Everyone liked our Christmas ornament favors wrapped in favor boxed and tulle
ribbons. My little cousin went around telling everyone they were breakable
(guess he heard that from his father! ;)) All in all it was a really fun
wedding!

=)
