Yay! More Basara! *jumps in excitement*I watched the first volume of Nightwalker today. My, my... it's good. It's about this detective who investigates and eliminates supernatural beings. The catch: he's a vampire, a supernatural being himself. It's very, very violent and bloody, and there's some nudity surprisingly, but it's not hentai. Well, his jokes are... but he's a guy. It's expected. It's great and I'm in love with the theme song. ^_^
And on the other hand, I opened a separate section for my fanfics and fanart over at ChibiCities. It's called Message in a Bottle. The fanart isn't up yet but all the fics are. Stop by sometime! (And sorry Michelle... I used frames... =( It was the only design that came to mind at the time.)

I'm now the vice-president of our university's anime club. Of course, that's due to the fact that I'm one of a few who is actually willing to do work . . . And Caroline will be happy that I have procured another VCR to tape the last two tapes of Basara and volume four of KKJ for her. . . The VCR's provider has said he will accept small unmarked bills in payment.

I was flipping channels today when I came across Escaflowne on Fox Kids. SInce there was nothing else on I decided to leave it on while I was dusting. The dub voices weren't that bad. Well, a couple were but I'm not going to get into how much of a pussy Dilandau sounded. And there were way too many VA's from Gundam Wing in it... but I digress. What I thought was kinda cool was right before and after each commercial break Fox Kids had a little "eyecatch" (for lack of a better term) with some neat mini-Japanese lessons. For instance today they taught us how to say good-bye (sayonara) and breakfast (asagohan) plus they had a couple of other nifty anime facts that I've forgotten now. I just thought the whole thing was really nifty, especially since they've taken to calling it anime instead of cartoons now. A little exposure to a different culture in the afternoons. What a concept. ^_^

Yeah, I got some serious eyestrain. I had to sit two feet from the TV so I could read the subtitles. The video quality wasn't that great either but I enjoyed it. It was changed quite a bit from the series but I liked the theme about sadness and being alone they had going in the movie. The characters were a bit different too. I didn't care for the changes they made to Folken :( and Allen was much cuter in the series IMO but the biggest change was in Milerna. . . She was like, almost dominatrix. But neither Allen or Milerna was in the movie much. Even Dilandau wasn't in there much. It focused more on Van, Hitomi and Folken. I'm not sure it was more bloody than the series. The series was quite bloody too -- it just spaced it out more than the movie. But anyway, the plot was wonderful and the new music in the movie is just as good as the series. The dragon song is wonderful and I must buy the movie CD now. I'm quite sure it's going to come out commecially and I am so going to buy it.
Caroline 7:14 PM
Mine did too! I just finished watching it. And even though the subtitles seriously sucked a big one, it was really really good. MUCH bloodier than the series. Alan was such a hottie in the movie and cat whistles to Milerna (sp?). She sure did change a lot from the series.I also watched Angel Sanctuary. Ooooooh, it was good. I'd recommend it to you Michelle, but theres some raving incestuous themes going on it. *cough* I've always wanted an Angel Sanctuary artbook, and the anime was just as beautiful.
Hey, 'Chelle, you got eyestrain from watching the Esca movie too?
Dr MM 4:37 PM
Whoo hoo! The Escaflowne movie came today. Now I'm off to watch it. :)

I'm a little disappointed that the world actually didn't end today. It would have saved me a lot of grief.Animazement is in March in North Carolina. I'm am so definitely there is Watase Yuu is going to be there again next year. But don't forget Chattacon, Kris-chan!
Dr MM 4:04 PM
Happy Second Impact Day! :)And for a little anime humor try T.H.E.M. Reduced Anime
Kristen C 10:40 AM
Actually, I saw yaoi first (and had the first tapes.)When is Animazement again? Maybe we could go to that one?
Dr MM 8:57 AM
I need to go to an anime con sometime too . . . ugh, I hate being poor. And Caro-chan has conned Kristen into watching yaoi? Kristen, did she sneak it onto one of your tapes like she's constantly threatening to do to me?
And Soyokaze has already pulled the Esaflowne move off their list. I'm glad I ordered it when I did.

Hahaha. Isn't it though. Just wait til you get to the second one. That's when it starts to get really interesting. *evil grin*I wish we could all go to AWA. Next year for sure! Animazement or AWA... either will make me happy. ^_^
Kristen C 1:18 PM
*sniff sniff* I've already been replaced! I wish I could go to AWA! I don't think you need to stop buying tapes Caroline! I want copies! Let me know what you want from my list!I started watching Ai no Kusabi (SP?)....um interesting.

Not until you stop me from doing the same thing. I also ordered the Escaflowne movie as well as the 1st Angel Sanctuary OVA and the first 3 volumes of Nightwalker. I really need to stop buying tapes. *thinks for a minute* Nahhhh... it'll never happen.
Dr MM 10:06 PM
Humph. You just want me to go to TN so you can drag me to Anime Weekend Atlanta with you. ;)In other news: Soyokaze has the Escaflowne movie in!! I'm now anxiously awaiting the order I paid for with money I don't have (credit cards and paypal are wonderful things). I also got Fancy Lala and one volume of Neo Ranga. Someone stop me from spending more money on anime I can't afford? Please. . . .

Oh I like Ageha a lot too. But there's just something about Shuri... and I'm a sucker for those star-crossed lover storylines. You need to come back to Tennessee. Driving up and down these mountains can be so much fun. Well... maybe not up the mountains (especially in my car) but definitely down them... especially with the appropriate driving music. >:)
Dr MM 10:17 PM
I told you so :) And yes, Shuri is a hottie....although he's a bit of an arrogant pervert too ;) I thought you'd go for Ageha though. He seems to fit into your whole bishonen gay men thing ;)Man. I watched Initial D again today. It's a car racing anime series and is totally awesome. I'm not sure if it's the type of anime that Caroline and Kristen would go for but the animation is incredible. All the cars are done in CG (computer graphics) so they look quite realistic as do the races. Everything else is done with traditional cel animation. Basically the premise of the anime is that this kid named Takumi (18) is a really good driver on the downhill of the local mountain. Although reluctant at first (his father basically bribes him to race the first time) he faces a series of races by increasingly good drivers in a ten year old, and much less superior car. . . There's also a little romance plot in there about him and this girl named Mogi and the BGM has a neato techno feel to it. Anyway, I really like it. The races are so much fun to watch as they're basically hurtleing down steep mountains at breakneck speed. . . I have three volumes and am anxiously awaiting for the fansubber to finish more. The only bad thing about this anime is that every time I see it I have this serious temptation to go drive like a maniac. Anyone know where I can find mountains in Nebraska? :)
Caroline 9:09 PM
Argh! *tears hair out and grinds teeth* You girls were sooooooo right about Legend of Basara! I must see the rest of it now. Volume 2 ended on such a cliffhanger... I'm dying to find out what happens! And the Red King is such a hottie. *ahem* But really, you were right about it being very Fushigi Yuugi-ish. They're based on the same mythology it seems. Even the names are the same... Tatara, Byakko, Suzaku...GAH! I MUST HAVE MORE!
