Smile Cat

Smile Cat is the first circle whose Harry Potter doujinshi I found in a doujinshi store. They continue to be one of my favorite Harry Potter doujinshi circles, although other circles have better art. What Smile Cat does is manage to be cute (not as overwhelmingly cute as Zuihouzakura). Since I love cute, I like their books.

Title: Sora no Shita no Mahoutsukai (Magic User Beneath the Sky) Circle: Smile Cat Art: B+ Rating: PG Pairing: none Number of Pages: 24 Other Info: Published on September 16, 2001. This was the second Harry Potter doujinshi I ever owned (it was actually a birthday gift from a friend). This is a cute doujinshi with good art although I prize it more for sentimental reasons than art. I also prize it for the story; Fred & George turn Snape into a cat. Cat-Snape makes me smile, especially when he gets angry. Ah, how I love angry Snape ...

Title: Tobira wa Aku Ikudomo (The Door Opens Many Times) Circle: Smile Cat Art: B+ Rating: PG Pairing: Ginny/Harry Number of Pages: 32 Other Info: Published on October 28, 2001. Comic/Novel. This is a fairly cute doujinshi. There's a lovely picture of a pretty, long-haired Gilderoy Lockheart on the intro page (he's wearing a fishnet shirt, leather pants and the background is full of sparkles -- talk about gay). In the comic, Fred & George try to sell Colin a picture of shirtless Harry ... and Ginny nearly kills them. There's another story where Ginny talks to Tom Riddle but that's pretty short. It's quite amusing and I do so like the Lockheart picture.

Title: Mahou Koukyoukyoku Circle: Smile Cat Art: B+ Rating: PG Pairing: none Number of Pages: 24 Other Info: Published on December 29, 2001. This is an Alternate Universe story (no magic) where Harry meets Ron and Hermione at a boarding school. Harry, who is still famous, must deal with all the people going "Harry" "Harry" "Harry" all over the school.

Title: (Too many kanji) Circle: Smile Cat Art: B+ Rating: PG Pairing: Sirius/Lupin Number of Pages: 32 Other Info: Published on February 17, 2002. This is a story set after Prisoner of Azkaban. Lupin finds Sirius in Japan (Sirius is rather puzzled by dango) and they have a Serious Talk (pun not intended).

Title: Hoshi no Hune Circle: Smile Cat Art: B+ Rating: PG Pairing: Ron/Harry (maybe friendship) Number of Pages: 32 Other Info: Published on March 17, 2002. This doujinshi has the return of CatSnape (from Smile Cat's first Harry Potter doujinshi). In another cute story, Mrs. Weasley bakes a pie but there aren't enough pieces to go around, so Ron must do without. But Harry, the good friend that he is, offers to split his piece with Ron. Very cute.
